The Kitchen is the most popular room to renovate

According to a recent survey by comparethemarket.com of more than 1000 UK homeowners the kitchen has been named the most popular to renovate. A new kitchen can add 5.8% in additional value to an average home, or approximately £9,605.

Storage in the kitchen is always a key factor for buyers, and the practicalities of a kitchen in particular can really have an impact on how favourably potential buyers view a house.

It’s worth investing in quality kitchen cabinets and doors with upgraded drawer runners etc. especially in high usage kitchens. Your average kitchen for the 10k mark from the high turnover store, simply doesn’t attract the buyer, buyers like the wow factor, neutral colours and the odd feature that creates a talking point, where care has been take to design the kitchen and not a quick kitchen sale.  Islands are massively popular, creating central focus points in the kitchen and a good islands can create good pulling power for potential buyers.

It’s good to spend a little more on appliances, features such as Neff’s Slide & Hide, loved by most who come across them, positioned at mid height creates great useability.  Induction hobs are very popular along with products such as boiling hot water taps, where you never have to wait for a cup of tea or for pasta to boil, making a quick cup of tea in front of your potential buyer is a great way to show of the potential your kitchen has to offer.
